Ex-wife Marcia Lucas, The "Heart" of Star Wars?

Most people outside of the USC School of Cinematic Arts campus, where the Marcia Lucas Post-Production Center is located, are unaware of Marcia Lucas' contributions to some of the most successful movies we have ever been privy to, including American Graffiti and of course, Star Wars.

Her biggest contributions are exactly what the Star Wars prequels, which is a soul or any sort of a emotional connection with any of the characters. For example, the good luck smooch that Leia gave to Luke when they were about to rope across the bottomless chasm in the Death Star was her idea. While it was purely a subtle gesture, it humanized the character as opposed to the robotic and hideously soulless dialogue in the prequels (i.e. "I am so in love with you").

All we need is love...and video games.

Girls we know how we are…..we need that “quality time” with the one we love and are always on the lookout for- who, what, when and where to find different things to do. The sad thing is many ladies have been missing out on an extremely fun and interactive source for that much needed time. Video games!  There are some of us who already know the bunches of fun that comes from couple gaming, working together towards an ultimate goal of saving the world from a bombardment of madmen and evildoers with ultimately some form of certain death.   Gaming as a couple can bring on not only more “victory celebrations (hubba hubba – hint hint) but better communication, stress relief, not to mention the actual proven health benefits of gaming-- but that’s another story— break in by starting out slow with easy but fun fav’s like the new Super  Mario Bro. for the Wii or some  one of the LEGO games ( Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter) for the Xbox 360 or the Playstation 3  consoles. When you are ready as a couple to move on to more challenging stuff find a co-op FPS( sometimes ladies we have the option of even playing as a female character!) like Borderlands (a personal fav.) and the Left for Dead Series or perhaps breakout your  “inner rockstar” and give RockBand or GutarHero a shot. There are some really great older games with a co-op/split screen feature that will be sure to fill a weekend full of “couples bonding” and whatever else it leads to………;)   

  

Teddy Bear Infidels Become Target of Cyber Jihadists. Kind of.

Belvoir (pronounced 'Beaver') Castle is a beautiful place. Even the name means "beautiful view". It was used as the pope's summer residence in The Da Vinci Code and hosts an annual folk music weekend, has an annual fireworks competition and a large array of events including a Teddy Bear Picnic. [Belvoir Castle pictured above]

 An Algerian hacker group "Dz-SeC" (bless you) mistook Belvoir Castle with the Belvoir (pronounced 'Belvoir' with the thickest French accent you can muster) Stronghold in Jerusalem, which was a crusader outpost dismantled in 1217. The castle homepage was hijacked displaying an Algerian flag and a anti-Semitic tirade. Can't we all just get along?[Belvoir Stronghold pictured above]

A New Duke Nukem? Seriously? Surely I must be dreaming..

 

1997. Slick Willy started his 2nd term as el Presidente. NASA's Pathfinder lands on Mars. Hale Bopp came close to Earth. Steve Jobs returns to Apple. Cameron's Titanic defiles the big screen. Skynet was activated removing human decisions from strategic defense. 

But - all I wanted was my Duke Nukem Forever, in all its Quake II Engine goodness, but I was denied. After gushing over Mr. Nukem 3D the year prior, my entire year was ruined. 

Finally, the day has come where it looks like it may become reality. Duke Nukem has become a punchline for projects that have been eternally delayed. But Randy Pitchford, who once worked on Duke Nukem 3D, is the founder of Gearbox Software. Coincidentally, Gearbox is now heading up the project of bringing the punchline to a reality. I won't lie. With the amount of concepts and brain sweat dedicated to this project, it will be the BEST game EVAR!!!!one!!!eleventy!one!!! 

Or it will suck. Only time will tell - or will it?? 2K is live streaming folks playing the game at PAX - check it out while you can! There's also a new website http://dukenukem.com. Either way, it's GOT to be better than VUVUZELA HERO! (video after the break)

Updated Xbox 360 Controller? Gimmick or necessary?

 I am personally very happy with the Xbox 360 controller as it currently is, but the folks over in Redmond decided it had some room for improvement with what Major Nelson dubbed a "transforming D-pad". 

 

 

 

 

It sounds intriguing, but will it actually assist in any way? What're your thoughts?

Gaming couples and the problem that will never go away.

I've got a sneaking suspicion that I'm not the only one who has a gamer husband that plays co-op games without me. For all you ladies who are in the same predicament, I thought you'd appreciate this:

Ladies - Love Gaming? Love Clothes? Why not kill two birds?

Us ladies love clothes and love gaming. Toss in the love of shopping and we've got a dangerous combination. Some creative folks at Cafe Press and some other cyber stores have some incredibly creative female gamer-centric shirts, stickers, and other stuff that rock my world.

These shirts can serve notice to our Y-chromosomed counterparts that we are only beginning to dominate the things that they once considered to be their little exclusive club. Some shirts are a tad bit oversexualized, but what can we expect?

Men? What are Men? Women are now pretty much dominating EVERYTHING.

 

 

Ok, the title may be a little overstated, but The Atlantic magazine states that women have become the majority in the workforce. It's true! We did it. High fives all around!

Women hold 51.4 percent of managerial and professional jobs and 54 percent of all accountant jobs. Not too bad. We still need to work on getting better executive positions, but we must crawl before we walk. Right now we're at a brisk walk.

True Geek Bling! The $1mil Laptop

Not to be outdone by our friends in Mexican drug cartels and their gun bling, [Ed. - No we have no affiliate with them, promise!] we've got some bling coming from Putin's Peeps - Russia! Since they opted to bring The Wall down, they decided to focus on even more important things. - like computers that cost more than your house. 

Singulum makes some insanely blinged out hand-made $1,000,000 (or 30,682,452 RUB for our friends in South Ossetia) laptops with ivory keys. No Chinese sweatshop laborers were even used in its construction, which could possibly account for at least half the cost.

Nerd Girls out-do "Wonder Twin Powers" - They don't even have to "Activate"!

 It's refreshing to see nerdy girls doing nerdy things for the betterment of society. The Nerd Girls are recruiting, if you've got what it takes and are even in the midst of casting for a new TV Series. The Nerd Girls are a bunch of college students who enjoy doing things like building solar powered cars to wearing nerdy glasses.
